GATINEAU, QC, Jan. 24, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull–Aylmer, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), announced that Imprimerie Gauvin Ltée has been granted $800,000 in financial assistance in the form of a repayable contribution.
As a true economic driver, innovation helps our enterprises grow and benefits communities and the middle class. Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and commercialize innovative products. That is why the Government of Canada and its partners are committed to supporting innovative Canadian businesses like Imprimerie Gauvin.
Together with the Government of Canada, Imprimerie Gauvin's other partners, namely the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and Investissement Québec as well as the City of Gatineau through Investissement et Développement (ID) Gatineau, are funding this project.
Imprimerie Gauvin is a landmark in the Gatineau region. The family enterprise has been in the printing business for 125 years. More specifically, it produces softcover books and is a major player in short and medium book print runs. Imprimerie Gauvin has more than 200 client-publishers of varying sizes across Canada, the United States and Europe.
The financial assistance will go towards the acquisition of equipment and the company's move to a plant, which will help it increase productivity. The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will be used for the acquisition of software and hardware for on-demand digital printing.
