Government of Canada announces reappointment of Mr. John Beckett to Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety Français
OTTAWA, June 15, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, announced the reappointment of Mr. John Beckett to the Council of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). Mr. Beckett will continue in his role as Governor representing employers.
Well known for his leadership in the field of occupational health and safety (OHS), Mr. Beckett is Vice President of Training, Safety and Recruitment for the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association. He is also a member of several OHS boards, committees and panels, including WorkSafeBC, as Director representing the public interest; the International Safety Panel, where he represents the interests of Canadian ports on marine related safety issues; and the Federal Employers in Transportation and Communication Organization Part II Committee, as chief spokesperson for federal employers.
Mr. Beckett holds an MBA from Royal Roads University. He is also a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, a Certified Human Resource Professional, a former instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and a former adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia where he taught Modern Safety Management in the Masters of Occupational Hygiene and Environment Program.
