TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that the company has delivered 3,930 Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and smart vehicles throughout the month. This impressive result represents the best September ever for the group and an increase of 7.4% for the month. With 10,124 units sold, Mercedes-Benz Canada also reported another milestone with the best third quarter results in the company's history. In total, 29,473 units have been sold by the Mercedes-Benz Canada network of corporate retail stores and private dealers year-to-date. This equates to an overall increase of year-to-date sales of 7.7% or 2,095 units.
Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks recorded 3,223 units retailed. This is up 13.9% when compared to September 2013, and pushed total sales to 24,536 units this year. A total of 1,744 passenger cars were delivered, which amounts to an increase of 17.1% for the month. This outstanding figure was not only driven by the availability of the 2015 C-Class Sedan but also from the remarkable performance of the CLA, the E-Class family, the S-Class Sedan which were ahead by 201.9%, 21.8% and 380% respectively in September.
Luxury light truck sales were up 10.4% for the month with a total of 1,479 units sold. This was fueled by the arrival of the all-new GLA, the latest entry in the Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV line-up, as well as for sustained demand for the 2015 GLK which was ahead by 18.2% or 100 units in September.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 72.3% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 86.5% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in September (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 247 vehicles sold in September, which equates to an overall increase of 2.9% year-to-date, bringing total sales to 1,725 units.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter achieved record sales in September with 460 units, up 16.2%. This helped boost overall growth for the division to 22% or 580 vans compared to last year's overall results at the end of September 2014.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned posted record-breaking gains of 14.7% this month with 1,406 retail deliveries. A grand total of 10,890 Pre-Owned units have been sold by dealerships across the country which equates to an increase of 6.4% or 659 units year-to-date.
"It goes without saying that we are all very pleased with the fantastic results so far this year. But there is still one quarter to go and we will continue to work very hard to maintain this great momentum," said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "On that note, Mercedes-Benz was recently awarded the 2014 Vincentric Best Value in Canada award for the E-Class in the Premium Mid-Size Coupe and the GL-Class in the Premium Large SUV. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was also bestowed top honours for the third consecutive year in all four segments in which it competes in for the Vincentric Best Fleet Value in Canada awards. These awards help fuel our on-going commitment to provide our customers with the best product as we continue to aim to lead the premium automotive segment".
