MONTREAL, Dec. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - VIA Rail Canada is advising passengers that train 16 between Montréal and Gaspé will have terminate its route in Campbellton due to large tides that affected the Gaspé region on December 6. Portions of the track were submerged during bad weather and inspections must be completed to ensure the safety of the track.
Train 16 leaving Montréal for Gaspé on December 8, 2010:
- All passengers with ticket reservations for destinations between Montréal and Matapédia will be accommodated on train 14 (the Ocean) in the same class of service.
- Passengers with destinations between Campbellton and Gaspé must end their trip in Campbellton. VIA will provide coach transportation between Campbellton and Gaspé. The coach will stop at every VIA station on the train's normal schedule whenever possible.
An update will be published as soon as the situation returns to normal.
The Montréal-Gaspé train leaves Montréal en route to Gaspé every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evening, and leaves Gaspé en route to Montréal every Monday, Thursday and Saturday afternoon.
