Station Arts Centre Cooperative Keeps the Toes Tapping in Rosthern - Federal funding is confirmed for concert series

ROSTHERN, SK, Feb. 27, 2014 /CNW/ - The Station Arts Centre Cooperative is receiving a total of $27,000 from the Government of Canada for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons of the Station Arts Concert Series and the Coffee House Series.

The Member of Parliament for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin, Maurice Vellacott, made the announcement today on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover.

The Station Arts Concert Series presents a variety of performances in the 160-seat theatre between the months of October and April. The only one of its kind in the Saskatchewan valley, this venue offers the audience a unique experience and the opportunity to meet the artists after the show.

The Coffee House Series takes place in the more intimate, casual setting of the café space and is designed to appeal to younger audiences. This Friday-night series provides young adults with access to quality entertainment in their community and emerging artists with the opportunity to hone their skills.

• In 2015, the Station Arts Centre will celebrate 25 years of artistic programming.
• The Station Arts Centre is located in the town's old CN Railway Depot. This building was renovated to preserve the original architecture and is one of the few examples of mansard roofing left in Saskatchewan.
• The funding announced today is provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
