Value the Invaluable: Ontario Nurses' Association Unveils Transit Shelter Ads Across Kingston
KINGSTON, ON, Dec. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Ontario Nurses' Association's (ONA) popular 'Value the Invaluable' ad campaign is expanding today as new transit shelter ads are unveiled across the province, including Kingston.
The ads feature one in a series of nurse "action figures" much like pro athlete action figures sold to their fans. They urge Ontarians to value nurses the way we value pro athletes, and offer a way for people to voice their support.
In Kingston, the ad can be seen at Cataraqui Town Centre, King Street, Brock Street, Montreal Street, Princess Street and Queen Mary Road.
"We know and most Ontarians understand that nurses really are the most valuable players in health care," says ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN. "Anyone who has used the health care system has seen the extraordinary skills, dedication and value that nurses bring to the table each and every day. These transit shelter ads continue to make the point that nurses are the heroes of health care."
Haslam-Stroud says that "Our health care system desperately needs the invaluable skills and care that nurses bring, and the government must recognize the fact that dollar for dollar, nurses are the best value in health care."
The transit shelter ads and radio ads that began airing two weeks ago will be in the market for several months. Visit http://www.ona.org/political_action/value.html#stories for a look at some of the stories that people have been telling us about how a nurse has helped them or their family.
ONA is the union representing 59,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals as well as more than 13,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
