UPDATE - RCMP partnership with United States law enforcement leads to additional arrests made in Operation Giant Slalom

OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 19, 2025 /CNW/ - As part of the FBI Operation GIANT SLALOM, US authorities issued a series of indictments for a range of serious charges including drug trafficking, murder, conspiracy to murder and continuing a criminal enterprise. This is the result of information-sharing and active partnership between the RCMP and the FBI.

Seven of these individuals were arrested in Canada this week by local Canadian law enforcement at the request of US authorities, pending extradition.

The RCMP and FBI worked together for 24 months to target this Mexican cartel-linked criminal network. This network has been moving large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine from Central and South America via the United States to Canada and overseas. It also has been commissioning murders across North America, and laundering significant proceeds of crime.

The alleged leader of the network, Canadian Ryan Wedding, remains at large. He is wanted by the United States and Canada on separate charges.

The FBI also announced today an increase in the maximum reward for the capture of Wedding, who is also on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted list, of up to $15 millionUSD. This is for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Wedding, who also goes by the names:

• "Giant"
• "Public Enemy"
• "El Jefe"

Backgrounder – Operation GIANT SLALOM

The RCMP and FBI have been working together for 24 months to target a Mexican cartel-linked criminal network. This network has been moving large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine from Central and South America via the United States to Canada and overseas. It also has been commissioning murders across North America, and laundering significant proceeds of crime.

Enforcement action against the network began in Mexico in October 2024 with targeted arrests in Colombia, the United States, and Canada.

The alleged leader of the network, Canadian Ryan Wedding, remains at large. He is wanted by the United States and Canada on separate charges.

October 2024

As part of the FBI Operation GIANT SLALOM, US authorities indicted 16 people, including 10 Canadians, in October 2024 for a range of serious charges including drug trafficking, murder, conspiracy to murder and continuing a criminal enterprise.

Four Canadians were arrested in Ontario by local Canadian law enforcement at the request of US authorities, pending extradition. They were:

• Hardeep Ratte
• Gurpreet Singh
• Rakhim Ibragimov
• Malik Cunningham

Three Canadian individuals were also arrested in the US:

• Nahim Jorge Bonilla
• Ranjit Singh Rowal
• Iqbal Singh Virk

A ninth Canadian, Andrew Clark, was also arrested in Mexico by local authorities as part of efforts against this network.

A tenth Canadian, Gennadii Bilonog, remains at large.

Along with the indictments, law enforcement seized over one tonne of drugs and collected evidence on numerous homicides and conspiracies to commit murder.

March 2025

In March 2025, the FBI announced an increase in the maximum reward for the capture of Wedding.

A reward of up to $10 millionUSD was announced for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Wedding, who also goes by the names:

• "Giant"
• "Public Enemy"
• "El Jefe"

Wedding was also placed on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted list.

Wedding was charged in an original indictment with running a continuing criminal enterprise, murder, and conspiring to possess, distribute, and export cocaine.

Law enforcement involved in this investigation is aware of past and current attempts to intimidate/threaten witnesses by the Wedding organization and affiliates. Any attempt to intimidate or threaten a witness will be investigated thoroughly and those found committing these offences will be prosecuted.

November 2025

The RCMP will continue to work closely with US and Mexico counterparts in the search for Wedding. Through collaborative efforts with the FBI, the RCMP has disrupted a major organized crime group and will continue to collaborate with international partners to prevent transnational crime.
