Travel Advisory - VIA's Services Between Gaspé and Montreal Are Back to
Normal This Morning
MONTREAL, Dec. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that regular service between Montreal and Gaspé will resume this afternoon, Thursday, December 9, 2010. VIA's regular train service was disrupted due to large tides that affected the Gaspé region on December 6 and forced the temporary interruption of VIA's service between Chandler and Gaspé.
VIA's train 17 will depart Gaspé this afternoon at 15:00 and will follow its route according to its regular schedule.
While the rail line closure was outside VIA's control, VIA nonetheless apologizes for any inconvenience that may have been caused by this disruption.
VIA's Montreal-Gaspé trains leave from Montreal to Gaspé every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings. The train departs Gaspé every Monday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons.
For more information on train schedules, or to book a trip, customers can visit VIA's secure Web site at viarail.ca. Passengers also can book their tickets by calling 1 888 VIA-RAIL (1 888 842-7245), or 1 800 268-9503 (TTY for the hearing impaired).
