Toronto Community Housing and FRAM Building Group officially open Phase 1 of Allenbury Gardens Revitalization Community

TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2017 /CNW/ - Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) and its developer partner the FRAM Building Group officially opened Phase 1 of the Allenbury Gardens revitalization project near Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East.

The completion of Phase 1 at Allenbury Gardens is part of TCHC's broad revitalization partnership efforts with private sector developers. The project combines rent-geared-to-income townhomes with market condominium units in two towers as well as townhomes.

TCHC's approach to revitalization is about transforming communities and creating safe and vibrant places to live, while making connections with the broader community to benefit tenants, the immediate community and the city as a whole.

Quotes

"It is a great privilege to announce the completion of Phase 1 of the Allenbury Gardens revitalization. Revitalization projects help us bring together and grow our communities. They are brilliant examples of how the City can work with partners in the community and the private sector to renew TCHC sites. This revitalization project has been completed on time and on budget, keeping TCHC's promise to bring families back to their communities this year, and it is another example of Toronto's continued commitment to improving TCHC."

—John Tory, Mayor, City of Toronto

"I'm pleased to see Phase 1 of Allenbury Gardens complete and that tenants have been relocated back home, and we've welcomed more residents to the community in the Soul condo tower. The new park and amenities will be a wonderful addition for the people of Allenbury, which is already one of the most diverse, community-minded, and vibrant neighborhoods in Toronto. These safe, beautiful new homes will also improve the quality of life for tenants, and expand housing options in my ward."

—Shelley Carroll, City Councillor, Ward 33

"I'm pleased to welcome our Allenbury tenants back to their old neighbourhood and more importantly, into their new homes. Allenbury is a great community with a long history and partnering with FRAM has allowed TCHC to continue our revitalization mandate to create safer, better places to live and connect tenants with the surrounding communities."

—Kathy Milsom, President and Chief Executive Officer

"FRAM Building Group is very proud of what we have accomplished thus far in delivering on our commitment to provide new homes to the Allenbury residents. We are excited to continue to work in partnership with Toronto Community Housing in completing the revitalization, and the return of this great community."
