TORONTO, April 30 /CNW/ - OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs celebrated the biggest jackpot win in its history this past weekend, when a slots patron playing a $1.00 Wheel Of Fortune slot machine triggered the winning combination. Linda Deraiche of Timmins, Ontario won a total prize of $155,615.
"The Wheel of Fortune slots are some of our most popular machines, and the progressive jackpots can get fairly large, but this is the largest jackpot win in our history at this site," said Todd Hilton, General Manager of OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs.
There are over 350 slot machines on the floor of the OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs' facility, ranging from 1 cent to $5. This jackpot was a progressive pool, which means the prize amount accumulated through continuous play on that specific $1 slot machine.
OLG Slots at Sudbury Downs has been open since November 1999 and has attracted more than 5.6 million visitors. As the host community, the City of Greater Sudbury has received more than $20.6 million in non-tax gaming revenue since the facility opened.
OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $28 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport, recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
