Media Advisory - The fair belongs to everyone: Hydro Ottawa continues commitment to local accessibility at 2026 Special Needs Day

OTTAWA, ON, Aug. 17, 2026 /CNW/ -- For more than 25 years, one special day at the Capital Fair belongs entirely to guests with disabilities. Special Needs Day is a day where the midway noise softens and Ottawa's biggest summer fair becomes fully accessible to everyone.

Hydro Ottawa and the Capital Fair are hosting Special Needs Day on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Designed specifically for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, including sensory sensitivities, the day offers a tailored environment featuring modified ride speeds, reduced stimulation, dedicated entertainment, and complimentary treats.

Since 2001, this collaboration has allowed thousands of local families to experience the joy of Capital Fair, turning a classic summer rite of passage into an inclusive regional celebration.

What:	Hydro Ottawa is partnering with Capital Fair and World's Finest Shows Midway to  host Special Needs Day, a private day at the fair for children and adults with disabilities, along  with their families and caregivers.
Why:	Special Needs Day offers a chance for guests to make lasting memories at the Capital Fair  in a supportive environment. It also presents the opportunity to raise awareness about  the importance of accessibility in our community.
When:	Tuesday, August 18, 2026 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   Hydro Ottawa representatives available for interviews from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Where:	Corner of Albion Road South and Rideau Road, just after the Hard Rock Casino. Parking    entrance is on Rideau Road, just east of the intersection. Free parking is available on  site.
