WINNIPEG, Oct. 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - VIA Rail invites media to the ceremony organized to celebrate the completion of the restoration of its heritage Winnipeg Union Station, at 11:00 a.m. (Central Time) on Monday, October 20, 2014.
The $6.5 million investment has allowed for the improvement of public areas, accessibility, passenger services and amenities, and the exterior of the building. It includes the restoration of the central rotunda, one of the most striking features of the 1912 Station. These improvements build on $3 million in upgrades to the station completed in 2011, which earned environmental certification from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Manitoba.
