TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ - The jackpot for this Friday's LOTTO MAX draw is $50 million, and thanks to an additional estimated twenty $1 million MAXMILLIONS prizes, there are more chances than ever for Canadians to experience a life-changing win. This LOTTO MAX draw will set a new record for the largest prize amount in Canadian history.
"LOTTO MAX sales are jumping, as people are excited. There are an estimated twenty additional million-dollar draws this week, which is what Canadians asked for - bigger jackpots and more chances to win big prizes," said Wendy Montgomery, VP of Lottery Marketing at Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. "This is the largest prize amount we've ever had."
Since LOTTO MAX launched in September 2009, over $506 million in prizes have been awarded, including $147 million to Ontario lottery players.
The largest LOTTO MAX win in Ontario was in December 2009. That jackpot for $25 million was split between two winning tickets from Burlington and Sault Ste. Marie. There have been eleven MAXMILLIONS winners in total, including two from Ontario.
MAXMILLIONS are additional $1 million prizes added to the game when the jackpot reaches $50 million. MAXMILLIONS prizes are drawn separately from the LOTTO MAX jackpot draw, which means that a LOTTO MAX ticket not only gives players a chance at $50 million but also the chance to win any of the $1 million MAXMILLIONS draws on the same date.
Players can purchase tickets at authorized OLG retailers until 9 p.m. Friday, June 11 for the draw that evening.
Due to the additional volume of 20 MAXMILLIONS prizes, it will take extra time to conduct the evening's draws, which will likely result in publishing the winning numbers later than usual. Unofficial winning numbers will be published as quickly as possible on Saturday morning Unofficial winning numbers can be found at OLG.ca or by calling the OLG Win! Line at 1-866-891-8946.
OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities.
