MARKHAM, ON, Jan. 25, 2013 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. is pleased to announce the winner of the Hyundai Hockey Helpers Month win-a-car contest. Adam Gubbins of Dundas, ON, picked-up his new 2013 Elantra GT from Mountain Hyundai in Hamilton, ON yesterday, capping the first-ever Hyundai Hockey Helpers Month promotion. From October 1 to 31, the company held a free-to-enter contest open to all Canadians for a chance to win a brand new car through the program website www.HyundaiHockey.ca.
Hyundai Hockey Helpers is Hyundai Auto Canada's approach to reinvesting in communities across the country and improve the lives of deserving children by helping at least 1,000 under-resourced Canadian youth play organized hockey every year. In partnership with KidSport Canada, a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to kids ages 18 and under, the program provides grants for registration fees and equipment costs in order to lower the financial barriers that prevent youth from participating in organized sports. Further, during the month of October every year, Hyundai dealers across Canada hold fundraising initiatives to help even more kids play organized hockey.
"In our first year, Hyundai Hockey Helpers has enabled over 1,800 kids to play hockey this year and raised over $400,000 to help even more next year," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "The win-a-car contest was used to help drive attention to the program and encourage Canadians to join us in our cause. I would like to congratulate Mr. Gubbins as the winner of the contest."
The vehicle was delivered to Mr. Gubbins by Steve Chemkov, General Manager of Mountain Hyundai.
