OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 30, 2025 /CNW/ - Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to acknowledge the devastating and lasting impacts of Canada's residential school system on First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples and to honour the strength and spirit of Survivors, their families and their communities.
At the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), we reflect on the harms of the past and look toward the future as we advance our goal of creating more equitable health care for Indigenous Peoples, informed by an Indigenous Guiding Circle of Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and First Nations, Inuit and Métis leaders.
By working together in truth and with respect and humility, we can build a better health system for the future, one that upholds Indigenous rights, promotes healing and supports self-determination in care.
We invite settler organizations and individuals across Canada to join us in observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and to reflect on how they might further their own reconciliation journeys.
