Budget 2018: Innovative Medicines Canada welcomes new Advisory Council and renewed commitment to research and science
OTTAWA, Feb. 27, 2018 /CNW/ - Innovative Medicines Canada and its member companies welcome the appointment of Dr. Eric Hoskins as the Chair of the Advisory Council on the Implementation of National Pharmacare and look forward to working closely with all stakeholders.
"We are keen to engage in the national dialogue on how best to move forward to ensure all Canadians have fair, equitable and affordable access to the medicines they need, when they need them," said Innovative Medicines Canada President Pamela Fralick. FUNDING FOR SCIENCE AND RESEARCH
Innovative Medicines Canada applauds the significant investment to support the next generation of researchers, granting councils, Canada Research Chairs, big data and federal science and technology facilities, while strengthening support for entrepreneurs to innovate, scale up and reach global markets.
The innovative pharmaceutical industry is a natural partner to the Government's plan to strengthen Canada's record on innovation and foster health research and development right here at home. According to a 2017 analysis by EY, Innovative Medicines Canada members generate $19 billion in economic activity, invest $1.2 billion annually into R&D to stimulate innovation and support 30,000 high value jobs.
