TORONTO, March 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Last year, 6,873 people were listed by the Canadian Police Information Centre as missing - each one of them part of someone's family. CTV's new heart-pumping thriller, MISSING, tells the story of one exceptional family and one particularly extraordinary mother, who takes matters into her own hands to bring her missing son home. Starring Ashley Judd (Double Jeopardy, Kiss the Girls) as Becca Winstone, mother and ex-CIA agent, the action-packed hour-long drama premieres Thursday, March 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV Mobile on Bell Mobile TV. The series moves to Tuesday nights beginning March 27 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

"MISSING brings together the action and adventure of a feature film spy thriller with the heartfelt quest of a dramatic search and rescue," said Phil King, President, CTV Programming and Sports. "Viewers can expect non-stop edge-of-your seat drama that, just like Ashley Judd's character Becca, won't let up."

In the 10-part series MISSING, eight-year-old Michael Winstone watched as his father, CIA agent Paul Winstone (Sean Bean, GAME OF THRONES) was murdered. Now 10 years later, Paul's wife Becca (Judd) is faced with the reality that her son is growing up. When Michael (Nick Eversman, CINEMA VERITE) is afforded the opportunity to study abroad in Rome, his mother reluctantly agrees to let him go. But when Michael disappears a few weeks into his trip, Becca immediately suspects foul play.

Crossing thousands of miles over Europe, and capturing each country with lush cinematic detail, MISSING tracks Becca's relentless high-octane race against time, as she goes head to head with authorities and outlaws to get her son back.

MISSING also stars Cliff Curtis (TRAUMA) as Dax Miller, Adriano Gianni (Ocean's Twelve) as Giancarlo Rossi, and Tereza Voriskova (BORGIA) as Oksana.

In the series premiere "Pilot", (Thursday, March 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV), when Becca arrives in Rome in search of her son, she begins piecing together the clues left behind. It isn't long before the kidnappers realize they've picked a fight with the wrong woman, because Becca has a secret of her own - before Paul's death, she was also a lethal CIA operative. If she wants to find her son alive, Becca will have to rely on old friends and reopen old wounds. All of her resourcefulness, skill and determination will be put to the test - but a mother's love knows no limits.

New episodes of MISSING will also be available the day following their CTV television broadcast on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca, on the CTV iPad App, and on Bell Mobile TV featuring CTV Mobile.

Produced by Stillking Films, MISSING comes from creator/executive producer Gregory Poirier (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) and executive producers Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo (THE GATES), Steve Shill (DEXTER) and James Parriott (SONS OF ANARCHY). MISSING is distributed by Disney-ABC Television.
