OTTAWA, Dec. 14, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement:
"I am pleased that Ms. Michelaine Lahaie has been appointed to the position of Chairperson of the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Ms. Lahaie brings 30 years of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring at the rank of Commander, with the distinction of being the first woman Commanding Officer at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School. Since 2017, she has been serving on the Veterans Review and Appeal Board.
Her strong background in operations, training, human resource management and experience with another significant review body will serve her well as Chairperson for the Commission, as it continues its critical role to support excellence in policing through accountability.
I would also like to thank outgoing Interim Chairperson Guy Bujold for his leadership and acumen over the past 15 months in ensuring the Commission progressed in its important work."
