adidas Canada Announces Multiyear Partnership with Maple Leafs Star Rookie and First Overall Pick, Gavin McKenna
TORONTO, Oct. 28, 2026 /CNW/ -- adidas Canada announced today that it is welcoming Toronto Maple Leafs star rookie Gavin McKenna to the adidas family on a multi-year deal.
One of the most notable players in his draft class, McKenna was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft in June. He made his NHL debut with the club in September at age 18.
"Gavin McKenna is one of the most exciting players to enter the NHL in years," said Kelly Graham, Head of Marketing, adidas Canada. "He is a fantastic athlete, who brings amazing creativity and skill to the ice. He also serves as an inspiration to so many kids across Canada and we're so proud to welcome him to the adidas family."
McKenna grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon, a citizen of the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin First Nation, and immediately emerged as a phenom when he debuted in the WHL at age 14 for the Medicine Hat Tigers.
After three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers (2022–25), McKenna led the Canadian Hockey League in scoring with 129 points during the 2024–25 season. He went on to record 51 points in 35 games during his season at Penn State, cementing his status as the consensus No. 1 prospect ahead of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 26. In his rookie NHL season, McKenna has recorded six points through his first 10 games.
"The past year has been a series of dreams coming true," McKenna said. "It's an honour to join the adidas brand and become a part of this family, alongside some of the best athletes from across the world."
McKenna will be featured in upcoming adidas campaigns in Canada, including adidas' You Got This brand campaign.
