adidas Canada Announces Multiyear Partnership with Maple Leafs Star Rookie and First Overall Pick, Gavin McKenna
TORONTO, Oct. 28, 2026 /CNW/ -- adidas Canada announced today that it is welcoming Toronto Maple Leafs star rookie Gavin McKenna to the adidas family on a multi-year deal.
One of the most notable players in his draft class, McKenna was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft in June. He made his NHL debut with the club in September at age 18.

McKenna grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon, a citizen of the Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin First Nation, and immediately emerged as a phenom when he debuted in the WHL at age 14 for the Medicine Hat Tigers.
After three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers (2022–25), McKenna led the Canadian Hockey League in scoring with 129 points during the 2024–25 season. He went on to record 51 points in 35 games during his season at Penn State, cementing his status as the consensus No. 1 prospect ahead of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 26. In his rookie NHL season, McKenna has recorded six points through his first 10 games.
