Unmasking euthanasia disguised as "medical aid to die." Is the worst yet to come?

Beneath the illusion of a guaranteed strict framework of safeguards lies the frightening reality. The experience of Belgium during the past 12 years demonstrates euthanasia's horrifying and inevitable effect on health care and on society.

What were supposed to be ironclad safeguards in Belgium have been continuously eroded until they finally gave way, in early February, to legislation that permits the euthanizing of children.

Where have all the safeguards gone when a society begins using its health care system to kill its children and the most marginalized?

How can our MNAs and legislators imagine and insist it will be different in Quebec?

European experience shows that the disastrous "inherent logic" of euthanasia in practice makes it certain all safeguards will fall, one after the other. It's only a matter of time.

Quebec MNAs and legislators have the obligation to protect the population from the disastrous consequences of the introduction of euthanasia.

Legalizing euthanasia on the promise of safeguards that we know cannot endure will be a dangerous revolution within Quebec's health care system. It will also be a major setback for palliative care in the province.
