MONTREAL, April 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Canadians nation-wide will be offered a unique opportunity to attend a learning series which will feature two renowned scientists from the Weizmann Institute of Science, discussing current research on heart and bone health and implications for the future. They will be joined by a local clinician and Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist in each city who will address lifestyle factors and current treatments.

The Heart of the Matter
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death for Canadian women. At the Weizmann Institute of Science, researchers are not only searching for solutions to this health epidemic, but are also investigating the very earliest causes, such as problems during embryonic formation.
Dr. Rachel Sarig from the Dept. of Biological Regulation at the Weizmann Institute will present her research on heart disease, including genetic and behavioural factors. Dr. Sarig will be the featured guest speaker in Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver.
Bone Health: What You Need to Know
Researchers at the Weizmann Institute are also investigating bone health and Osteoporosis. Dr. Elazar Zelzer, Principal Investigator in the Dept. of Molecular Genetics at the Weizmann Institute of Science, will discuss overall bone health and some of the genetic factors being discovered. Dr. Zelzer will be the featured guest speaker in Halifax, Montreal, and Ottawa.
