Saskatchewan Blue Cross opens 2026 Rural Hospital Foundation Funding Program
SASKATOON, SK, April 1, 2026 /CNW/ - Saskatchewan Blue Cross has opened intake for the 2026 Rural Hospital Foundation Funding Program, an annual initiative that helps rural hospitals across the province access essential tools and equipment that support quality patient care. Applications are open from April 1 to June 30.
The program provides funding for smaller, meaningful projects that enhance care in rural communities. Previous support has helped foundations purchase items such as an emergency pediatric crash cart, an Alaris PK Syringe Pump, an ortho centrifuge and incubator, wheelchairs and specialized head lamps. These investments enable rural care teams to respond more effectively to their patients' needs.
"All rural hospital foundations play an important role in supporting the health of their communities," said Kelly Wilson, President and CEO at Saskatchewan Blue Cross. "This program is designed to help them access the resources they need so people can receive the right care close to home."
All rural hospital foundations in Saskatchewan are eligible to apply. Applications are reviewed individually, and some may be approved in whole or in part. Saskatchewan Blue Cross may request additional information as part of the process.
"We are incredibly grateful for Saskatchewan Blue Cross's continued commitment to rural hospital foundations across Saskatchewan," said Lecina Hicke, Chair, Network of Saskatchewan Hospital and Health Care Foundations. "Programs like this empower local foundations to respond to the unique needs of their communities, ensuring patients have access to the equipment and resources that support compassionate, high-quality care. This partnership is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when organizations work together for the health of our province."
