Part of a series of initiatives in support of the bartending community.
TORONTO, May 25, 2020 /CNW/ - Remy Cointreau has donated $25,000 CAD to the Bartenders Benevolent Fund. Created in 2013, the Bartenders Benevolent Fund is a nonprofit financial resource for all hourly bartenders, servers and front of house support staff working in the hospitality industry in Canada who have fallen under serious financial hardship. Their mission is to ensure that those in need can make ends meet.
This is in addition to the $200,000 USD that Remy Cointreau Americas donated to the USBG (US Bartenders' Guild) in March which financially supports bartenders in the US whose venues are currently closed due to the epidemic and thus deprived of income.
'Those who craft our cocktails and serve our products are part of our family. Bartenders and bar staff are pillars of our communities and have long supported our brands such as Remy Martin, St Remy and Cointreau. We pledge our unwavering support to them in this uncertain time. In partnership with the BBF, Remy Cointreau aims to assist those many individuals in the hospitality community who are facing unprecedent challenges.' Said Ian McLernon, President & CEO Americas at Remy Cointreau.
"The hospitality industry in Canada is more than just a group of professionals, it's a community, one that is bolstered by the support of brands such as Rémy Cointreau," said Jon Gray, co-founder of the Bartenders Benevolent Fund. "Rémy Cointreau's generosity will help us to reach bartenders, servers and FOH staff across the country."
The Bartenders Benevolent Fund receives applications and disburses financial support on a weekly basis, with the ability for applicants to reapply, if necessary. To date, the organization has dispersed nearly $60,000 during the COVID-19 crisis alone. Hospitality workers who wish to apply for assistance can do so at BartendersBenevolentFund.ca.
