MONTREAL, Sept. 12, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - In glorious summer weather, Port in the City Day made it possible for 2,665 people, mainly Montrealers, to discover their city's port facilities on Saturday, September 10 aboard the AML cruise ship the Cavalier Maxim.
This annual activity organized by the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) was eagerly anticipated and the free tickets were quickly claimed. There were five departures over the course of the day. During the one-hour cruise on the St. Lawrence River, the Cavalier Maxim brought its passengers from the Old Port to Promenade Bellerive Park, east of the Louis-H. Lafontaine bridge-tunnel.
The aim of the event is to familiarize citizens with the Port of Montreal's activities. A special invitation is extended to neighbours of the Port, the residents of over 16,000 households close to Port territory. During the cruise, Port executives provide the guided tour, explaining how the facilities seen along the wharves work and shedding light on the major impact of these port operations on the economy of Greater Montreal and the province of Quebec.
