MONTREAL, April 12, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Pomerleau, which is part of the NouvLR General Partnership, a consortium composed of SNC-Lavalin Major Projects Inc., Dragados Canada, Inc., Groupe Aecon Québec Ltée and EBC Inc., in collaboration with the NouvLR design team, made up of a consortium composed of SNC-Lavalin Inc. and AECOM, and other partners, is pleased that the Réseau express métropolitain project has reached contract close, and is now ready for project debut.
NouvLR General Partnership finalized today an agreement for a fixed price EPC contract worth five billion dollars with CDPQ Infra for the Infrastructure Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the Réseau express métropolitiain. Pomerleau brings specific abilities in design-build and transportation environments to the REM project and will require significant new resources.
The Réseau express métropolitain is an electric and fully automated light rail transit network designed to facilitate mobility across the Greater Montreal Region. Spanning 67 kilometres of double track and boasting 26 stations, it will link the South Shore, North Shore, West Island, downtown Montreal, and the Pierre-Elliot Trudeau Airport, and connect with existing bus networks, commuter trains and with the Montréal metro Blue, Green and Orange lines. Stations will be accessible by foot and bike, integrate universal mobility options, connect to bus stations and park and ride lots, and will offer passengers a variety of travel options between home and the station.
"Pomerleau is proud to be part of this landmark project that will redefine transportation for communities both on and off the island of Montreal. We are pleased to share our design-build and transportation expertise on this project to make the lives of citizens of Greater Montreal easier and more efficient," said Pomerleau President & CEO Pierre Pomerleau. "And workforces like ours will grow due to infrastructure projects such as this one. Communities will benefit in so many ways," he added.
