QUÉBEC, Nov. 20, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The legendary BIC® brand, recognized around the world as a leader in Stationery, and a staple in Canadian Classrooms for generations with its iconic products like the BIC Cristal, and the BIC 4-Color pen, as well as BIC pencils, BIC highlighters, and Wite-Out correction products, is poised to make a trend-setting digital entrance into Quebec schools. This time, it is joining forces with its own unique software program and tablets to offer French speaking teachers and elementary students a completely innovative and turnkey educational experience through BIC® Education.
The BIC Education tool, which was first introduced and has become very popular in schools in France, is now being offered to schools in Quebec, as well as French schools of Ontario and New Brunswick by Cylabe Interactif. This flexible and simple solution is unique in that in addition to providing a state of the art technological tool, it integrates handwriting features, allowing the teacher the ability to reinforce the development of handwriting skills and the benefit such provides in a child's learning and development.
Designed in collaboration with Intel, the BIC Education solution is centered around a dedicated teaching software that allows for extremely easy creation and sharing of pedagogical activities with students; it also allows the teacher to track the students' work and to intervene in real time directly on the tablets, in a simple, dynamic manner, with or without an interactive whiteboard. The BIC Connect software also allows students' work to be saved, as well as the review and tracking of their progress.
"Today's students are learning in an environment where technology is playing an increasingly important role, yet the need to learn how to write well is still a crucial element of a child's intellectual and critical thinking development. This calls for innovation and adaptation, without ever losing sight of the fact that technology must serve education, and not replace it. Our solution is an answer to the needs raised by teachers," explains Alice Fournier, BIC Education Deputy General Manager and Quebec spokesperson.
Enticed by the simplicity and relevance of the BIC Education solution, four schools in three Quebec regions are beginning to experiment with it, as part of the first pilot projects.
"We offer schools the many advantages of new technologies, while allowing teachers to use them for their objectives and pedagogical needs. It's a mobile solution that can be shared between several classes in the same school, so that 100% of students can reap the benefits," concludes Alice Fournier.
