OntarioMD Welcomes Two New Directors to its Board and Recognizes the Contributions of Dr. David Daien

TORONTO, Sept. 29, 2026 /CNW/ -- Debbie Fischer, Chair of the Board of OntarioMD (OMD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Zainab Abdurrahman and Dr. Darren Larsen to the Board. On behalf of the Board, she also extends sincere thanks to Dr. David Daien for his dedicated service and valuable contributions during his tenure as a Director.

Dr. Abdurrahman is Past President of the Ontario Medical Association, and her experience spans clinical practice, academic medicine, healthcare advocacy and system transformation, complemented by advanced training in biostatistics that supports evidence-informed governance and decision-making. A champion of health equity and healthcare innovation, Dr. Abdurrahman is committed to facilitating the thoughtful use of technology to improve patient care and health system performance.

Dr. Larsen is a family physician, an accomplished physician executive, and a nationally recognized healthcare leader. His distinguished track record in digital health, healthcare innovation and strategic primary care transformation are valuable assets to the OMD Board. Dr. Larsen possesses deep expertise in health data, analytics and artificial intelligence. He has advised numerous provincial and national healthcare organizations, and currently holds the role of Chair of the Board of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.

OMD also extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. David Daien for his dedicated service on the Board and his longstanding support of the organization and its mission. Before joining the OMD Board of Directors, Dr. David Daien served as an OMD Physician Peer Leader, helping to advance the adoption of digital health tools among Ontario physicians. He concludes his service as an OMD Board Director after joining the Board in 2017 and serving as Board Chair and Vice-Chair.
