Shovel in the ground in 2017
OTTAWA, Dec. 4, 2015 /CNW/ - One of the most iconic corners in Ottawa will have a landmark building from Mizrahi Developments to honour the civic importance of the thoroughfare.
The go-ahead came today when the Ontario Municipal Board joined the City of Ottawa Planning Staff, the Planning Committee, City Council and the Urban Design Review Committee in acknowledging the building's landmark status. The approval process is now complete.
The new boutique condominium building at the corner of Island Park Drive and Wellington Street marks the entry of Mizrahi Developments into Ottawa. The Canadian company, known for its luxury, boutique buildings and old-world craftsmanship, has worked closely with Ottawa city officials since 2014 to gain approval for the 12-storey project.
"We are committed to collaborating with the city and the local community to design and create a building that contributes to the architectural landscape of the city and to the lives of local residents, " comments Sam Mizrahi, president of Mizrahi Developments.
City officials described the architectural signature of the 12-storey building as "landmark." Designed by Page + Steele/IBI Group, a multidisciplinary global practice, headquartered in Toronto, the project will be led by senior principal architect, Henry Burstyn.
Located on the northeast corner of Island Park Drive and Wellington Street, the condominium boutique building at 1451 Wellington will offer the hallmarks of Mizrahi's award-winning luxury brand.
