OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 17, 2025 /CNW/ - Ingenium – Canada's Museums of Science and Innovation, together with the Buffalo Culture Collective, invites media to attend the Wahkohtowin: Buffalo and Moose Hide Experience at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum in Ottawa. This Indigenous-led educational event invites visitors to prepare two buffalo hides and one moose hide for tanning. A special presentation on September 26 at 10 a.m. invites participation in the hide preparation process alongside a group of young students.
Running from September 24 to October 2, 2025, this program highlights cultural revitalization through hands-on learning about buffalo science and the history of buffalo on Turtle Island. Wahkohtowin is a Cree word signifying the interconnectedness of all things, emphasizing kinship and relationships within the natural world. Taking place in the days leading up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, this event reflects Ingenium's ongoing commitment to Indigenous-led programming and to creating opportunities for meaningful knowledge sharing.
