More than 1,200 Members to Attend
TORONTO, Nov. 25, 2019 /CNW/ - More than 1,200 front-line registered nurses, leaders and health-care professionals from across Ontario will be in Toronto this week to attend the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) Biennial Convention.
'Our Voice, Our Strength' is the theme of the 2019 convention. Ontario's front-line members have become increasingly concerned with cuts to all sectors of the health-care system and their impact on care, and are speaking out.
Highlights of the convention include ONA President Vicki McKenna's (RN) address to delegates on November 26 and remarks from Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU's) President Linda Silas on November 28. ONA members will also hear from Minister of Health Christine Elliott and leaders of the Ontario NDP and Liberal parties.
ONA members will also hear from other guest speakers, receive updates on the work of their union, and consider Constitutional Amendments. Two of the sessions will be livestreamed on Facebook. ONA President Vicki McKenna will have some media availability during the convention. Reporters are welcome to many of the sessions but must register with ONA (contact information below).
ONA is the union representing more than 65,000 front-line registered nurses and health-care professionals as well as more than 18,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, industry and clinics.
