Media Advisory - Toronto Raptors to host youth basketball clinic

TORONTO, March 3, 2015 /CNW/ -

The Toronto Raptors and Sun Life Financial are teaming up to present the Sun Life Financial Heritage Clinic Series–a cost-free basketball program to get kids aged 6-14 active while learning how to plan for life. These clinics target community centres that align with Raptors Heritage Nights and are presented by Sun Life Financial during the 2014-2015 season, including: Diwali, South American, Chinese New Year, Asian/Filipino and Baisakhi.

Former NBA All-Star, Toronto Raptors player and current coach of the team, Jamaal Magloire, will visit Downsview Secondary School on Tuesday, March 3, to lead the fourth installment of the Sun Life Financial Heritage Clinic Series. Magloire will use his experience and knowledge to teach 100 kids from the North York Pinoy Athletic Association about being active, eating healthy, respect and saving for the future. Magloire and Toronto Raptors basketball development coaches will then lead a basketball clinic.

The Toronto Raptors and Sun Life Financial continue to bring basketball clinics to various diverse ethnic communities in the Greater Toronto Area. To date, the Sun Life Financial Heritage Clinic Series has hosted Indian, South American and Chinese communities.

As part of the program, a draw will be held for 14 clinic participants to have a "Money for Life Experience" at the March 27 Toronto Raptors game for the Sun Life Financial Asian Heritage Night, which includes tickets, a national anthem experience and a co-branded Toronto Raptors and Sun Life Financial jersey.
