Awards recognize outstanding medical students who demonstrate potential as future leaders and innovators of healthcare in Canada
OTTAWA, May 12, 2015 /CNW/ - MD Financial Management Inc. (MD), a Canadian Medical Association (CMA)-owned financial management organization today announced that the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) awards, which are sponsored by MD and supported by CMHF donors, will be given to 17 medical students, one from each medical school across Canada. Each recipient will receive $21,000, to be paid in two installments of $10,500, as well as the opportunity to attend the CMHF annual induction ceremony where they will have the opportunity to meet CMHF Laureates.
The awards recognize outstanding third-year medical students who demonstrate the qualities—such as perseverance, collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit—that CMHF Laureates cite as contributors to their success as national and world health leaders.
"We're pleased to be able to help the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame recognize the work of some of Canada's future health leaders and support 17 third-year medical students with these new awards," said Mike Gassewitz, Executive Vice-President of Member Solutions, MD Financial Management. "At MD, we know how expensive medical school is. The awards will help these medical students take some of the worry out of their finances, leaving them able to focus on their studies."
The CMHF and MD invite medical schools to nominate one outstanding medical student for next year's awards. Students should be completing their second undergraduate year of study at the time of application. The deadline for submission is May 29, 2015.
