OTTAWA, April 26, 2013 /CNW/ - Kivuto Solutions Inc., the global leader in complex digital distribution, took its environmental care program to the streets today as part of a citywide cleanup campaign.
More than 30 Kivuto employees joined participants from across cthe city in the annual Tim Hortons' Cleaning the Capital program. The Kivuto Green Team, an employee-run group that manages green initiatives within the company and participates in local campaigns to clean the environment, took to the streets to clean up the litter in the neighborhood around Kivuto's head office. Wearing white T-shirts emblazoned with the Kivuto Green Team logo, employees cleared litter from the Hintonburg neighborhood near the corner of Somerset Street and Wellington Street, bordered by Scott Street to the north, Gladstone Avenue to the south, Breezehill Avenue to the east, and Sherbrooke Avenue to the west.
"This is a great way for us to show our support for the Cleaning the Capital program and make a positive contribution to the environment in the neighborhood we work in every day," said Julio Alvarez, Kivuto Green Team Leader. "It is one of many environmentally friendly activities we have underway."
"We have also implemented an enhanced office recycling program that includes processes for recycling batteries and electronics," added David Bernardon, Kivuto Green Team Leader. "We are launching a new program to reduce energy consumption throughout the company. And we are installing a bicycle cage at the office to encourage more people to bike to work."
As part of its environmental care programs, Kivuto has renewed its commitment to deliver green distribution solutions to customers worldwide. It also continues to offset its carbon footprint with the Carbonfund.org Foundation, the leading nonprofit carbon reduction and climate solutions organization. Kivuto has renewed its association with Carbonfund.org's CarbonFree® Partner Program, which supports third-party validated renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects in the U.S. and abroad to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and hasten the transition to a clean energy future. Kivuto will continue to offset carbon emissions by supporting Reforestation and Forest Preservation projects, which fight climate change by sequestering CO2 emissions from the atmosphere in trees and soil and improve local environmental quality.
Now in its twentieth year, the annual Cleaning the Capital campaign has attracted more than 856,000 volunteers to 13,100 cleanup projects throughout the city. Organizers estimate that approximately 1.48M kilograms of waste has been removed from public spaces by participating individuals, student groups, community associations, and businesses.
