KidSport Canada Appoints Kathi Lomas McGee as New Board Chair

WINNIPEG, MB, Sept. 3, 2026 /CNW/ -- KidSport Canada, a leading national not-for-profit organization that removes financial barriers preventing children from participating in organized sport, is proud to announce the appointment of Kathi Lomas McGee as the new Chair of its Board of Directors, effective June 2026. Kathi Lomas McGee succeeds Jamie Ferguson, who successfully led the KidSport Canada board for 18 years.

McGee brings a wealth of experience to KidSport Canada's board. She is the Vice President of Experience at YMCA Canada, the national office supporting 37 autonomous YMCAs serving more than two million Canadians each year and has extensive leadership experience in the charitable and community sector. She leads national initiatives to strengthen impact, relevance, and long-term sustainability and is a collaborative and community-focused leader who brings people and organizations together to build partnerships that respond to changing community needs.

McGee has also helped develop innovative partnerships and service delivery models that have expanded access in underserved communities, led significant organizational transformations, and worked collaboratively with governments, municipalities, community partners and funders to secure meaningful investments in social infrastructure and new initiatives that address issues facing children, youth and communities. McGee brings a strong commitment to community and collaboration, along with a mindset that promotes continuous learning. She is also a mom of two active sons and a lifelong sport, recreation and outdoor enthusiast.
