Jewish Group Reacts to Video - "At no time were the comments of Mr. Coderre interpreted as a threat. The suggestion that this was even remotely the case is ridiculous" Français
MONTREAL, Nov. 1, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Jewish Council (QJC), spokespersons for the Outremont Jewish Orthodox Community, is unequivocal after a video was distributed following a private meeting. "We invited Mr. Coderre to give us his opinion on a letter circulating in our Community in which our members were asked to divide their vote between Mr. Coderre's team and another political party. Mr. Coderre asked our members to support his team by voting for all of his candidates in Outremont," explained QJC spokesman, Mayer Feig.
"Our policy regarding taping such private meetings is clear," continued Mr. Feig. "Recordings are absolutely not permitted and this was made very clear by us at the beginning of the meeting."
"We firmly denounce the fact that a private meeting of our Community is being used for partisan political purposes. Furthermore the video was clearly taken out of context," stressed Mr. Feig.
"At no time were the comments of Mr. Coderre interpreted as a threat. The suggestion that this was even remotely the case is ridiculous," concluded Mr. Feig.
