Give While You Get - Fundraising Platform to Drive Change World-Wide
OTTAWA, Jan. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - Called the "only daily deal email you'll ever need" by the Huffington Post, GettingGives.com is creating an online platform for giving back one deal at a time.
The newly launched site is harnessing the power of group buying, offering daily deals from popular sites like Groupon and Living Social in one location. When people buy a deal, they get to make a donation to a charity of their choice at no extra cost.
"We wanted to find a way that would allow people to give back, despite their busy day-to-day lives and without having to spend a lot of money," said GettingGives' president Matt Miller. "People are able to get the exact same deal they could get somewhere else, at the exact same price, and they get to give back to their favourite charity."
While the group buying market is competitive, Albert Bitton, Principal at Group Buying Canada, says GettingGives stands out from the pack.
"GettingGives is first and foremost a fundraising platform that is leveraging the success of the daily deal market to make giving easier than ever before. The notion that you can save your money and support a cause is very exciting," said Bitton.
Several charitable partners are already on board, including Plan Canada, Compassion Canada,Teach For America, Save the Children, Pencils of Promise and To Write Love On Her Arms. To Write Love On Her Arms is the recent winner of the American Giving Awards $1 million prize, as featured on NBC.
"We're excited to have this opportunity to connect with online audiences and to raise awareness and support for our work of helping children in developing countries," said Jeff Cornett, vice-president of donor marketing with Plan Canada. "I think people will appreciate knowing they're making a difference in people's lives around the world, while still saving money."
GettingGives plans to build the first-ever global online community of giving back, where people can save their money and support a cause.
