Fowler Construction Receives Environmental Achievement Award for Sage Creek Protection Area
BRACEBRIDGE, ON, March 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Fowler Construction is pleased to announce it has received the Ontario Stone, Sand and Gravel Association's (OSSGA) prestigious Environmental Achievement Award for their Sage Creek valley plan adjacent to their Child's Pit location in Bracebridge, Ontario.
The OSSGA presented this award as part of their Annual General Meeting at Deerhurst Resort, recognizing Fowler for developing and implementing industry leading policies, programs or projects that make positive contributions to the environment.
"Fowler is very pleased to receive this award," said James Gordon, Materials Manager. "We have worked extensively with the Muskoka Conservancy and the Town of Bracebridge to develop a long-term protection plan for this important environmental area."
The plan ensures that approximately 63 hectares of natural heritage area will receive appropriate buffering from the neighbouring aggregate extraction area. It also recognizes the many plant and animal species that call the valley home. Walking trails will be established for the public to enjoy the lands, which will be voluntarily rezoned as Environmental Protection Lands through the Town's Official Plan later in 2013.
