MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 15, 2017 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of Food Banks Canada announces Christopher (Chris) Hatch as the new Chief Executive Officer of Food Banks Canada, effective January 8th, 2018.
Chris Hatch currently is the Executive Director at The Mississauga Food Bank, taking the helm in 2009. He has been instrumental in delivering a number of transformational and innovative projects including moving into a new and expanded warehouse and implementing a sophisticated inventory management system. He also currently serves on the Mayor of Mississauga's Poverty and Homelessness Advisory Board.
"I am so pleased that Chris will be joining Food Banks Canada at such a crucial time for the organization," said Allan Cosman, Chair, Food Banks Canada Board of Directors. "Chris' innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to bring people together will bring the energy needed to steer the network through its next phase of growth in our work to help Canadians most in need."
Before joining The Mississauga Food Bank, Hatch had a distinguished career as a human resource management consultant. As a Principal at Mercer and Towers Perrin, he consulted with a wide array of non-profit and multinational organizations headquartered throughout North America and Europe. He was also a notable speaker and author on human resource issues and was widely quoted by major business publications. Hatch is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and Trinity College-Hartford, Connecticut.
Hatch is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for dedicated service to the community and is a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity where he was involved in the building of two new homes in Southern Ontario.
Food Banks Canada is launching its new strategic plan to meet its vision of a Canada where no one goes hungry. Over the coming years, Hatch will be responsible for deepening collaboration across a network of more than 550 food bank organizations to meet their capacity and infrastructure needs and increase the collective impact to assist the more than 800,000 people turning to food banks every month.
