ERA Expands Technology Reuse and Community Impact Across British Columbia

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 3, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), a Canadian non-profit organization, continues to expand technology reuse across British Columbia by giving electronics a second life and improving access to digital tools. ERA recovers surplus technology, securely processes data-bearing devices, refurbishes reusable equipment, and redirects it to organizations in need.

Recent donations across British Columbia include 20 laptops to Amparo International Foundation in Chilliwack, 4 laptops to Galiano Conservancy Association, 3 laptops to International Widows & Orphans Fund Society, 2 laptops to Craft Council of BC, and 10 cell phones to Vancouver Police. By placing usable technology back into the community, ERA helps recipient organizations strengthen their programs, improve communication, support day-to-day operations, and expand access to essential digital resources.

At the same time, demand for refurbished technology remains strong throughout the province Current requests include 24 laptops for MOSAIC in New Westminster; 2 computers and 10 laptops for Complex Care Housing - Interior Health in Kelowna; 20 laptops and 5 projectors for Childcare International Society in Surrey; and 10 laptops for DTES Emergency Supply Hub in Vancouver. Continued donations of laptops, computers, monitors, tablets, phones, projectors, and other reusable electronics are essential to helping ERA fulfill these requests and support more British Columbia communities.

Technology reuse provides both environmental and social value by reducing unnecessary electronic waste while connecting organizations with equipment they can continue to use. ERA invites businesses and organizations across British Columbia to contribute surplus electronics to its reuse and recycling programs.
