EPCOR WHITE ROCK ADOPTS AUTOMATIC MESSAGING TECHNOLOGY
WHITE ROCK, BC, Aug. 27 /CNW/ - EPCOR adopted an automatic voice messaging service today as one of its ongoing efforts to update customers during the current Boil Water Advisory (BWA) in White Rock.
The technology, which uses account holders' telephone numbers, will allow EPCOR to communicate updates to its 4,000+ local customers in minutes.
Landlords and property owners will receive notification, as they are the account holders. From there, EPCOR encourages them to share the update with their tenants.
In other news, the Merklin High Reservoir was drained late Wednesday so internal inspection, cleaning and disinfection could take place. Preliminary water sample results from this reservoir indicate E. Coli was present during draining.
Microscopic examination of water from the Merklin Low Reservoir found encapsulated yeast associated with pigeon droppings, suggesting this has been the source of the E. Coli. Further testing continues regarding potential entry points.
Extensive flushing and sampling of the water distribution system continues. Customers may notice a slight chlorine odour or discolouration while this occurs.
The BWA will remain in effect over the weekend. For more information on what to do during a BWA, go to www.epcor.ca/WhiteRock
