EPCOR CEO named Business Person of the Year
EDMONTON, Dec. 1 /CNW/ - EPCOR President and CEO Don Lowry has been named Alberta Venture magazine's Business Person of the Year.
Lowry is featured in the December issue of the magazine, due out on newsstands today. Alberta Venture selected Lowry for his "innovative leadership style and far-reaching vision." And the magazine noted the successful spin-off of EPCOR's power generation assets to create Capital Power Corporation. Today, the proceeds from that transaction are fueling the growth of the company's "water and wires" business.
"We have opportunities with our industries to lead with the deployment of technology and water," Lowry told the magazine.
The award recognizes not only Lowry's success in building EPCOR, but also its commitment to the community.
A panel of adjudicators including past winners selected Lowry as this year's recipient of Business Person of the Year. The award will be officially recognized at a January 20, 2011, luncheon in Edmonton.
The award comes about a month after EPCOR was named a Western Canada winner in the 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures 2010 program by Waterstone Human Capital.
