VANCOUVER, Nov. 23 /CNW/ - The Electronic Recycling Association www.era.ca has announced that during that starting November 23 up to December 31 it would be providing free computers to qualifying residents of Vancouver and BC.
Qualifying residents (low income, disabled, elderly, AISH assistance recipients) and non profit and charitable organizations will be provided free computers and laptops. The computers and laptops distributed are collected from individuals and corporations in Vancouver and across BC.
The ERA wants to show its appreciation for its 5th year running and show the commitment to provide computers to everyone that needs them.
Organizations that donate large amounts of computers will be automatically entered into a draw to win 1 out of 3 trips to Lake Louise Fairmount Hotel, for an all inclusive weekend for 2.
ERA wants everyone to know as well that by taking your computer into the local bottle depots or Salvation Army depots, you are throwing away opportunities for others to have your old computer. Encorp does not allow reuse, so even if your computer is working, or can be repaired it will be melted down. Many people in Canada live in a throw away society, and we need to realize that just because something is too old for us (that 8gb iPod, instead of the new 32gb iPod) it doesn't mean that someone else can't enjoy it.
Computers are very much the same. They can be used in schools, daycares and other places for years after you are done with them.
ERA offers RCMP and DoD certifited service for data wiping so your information will be protected. ERA even offers next day pickup service anywhere in BC.
