Zinio e-magazines added to library's growing e-content selection
TORONTO, Sept. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Public Library customers now have access to hundreds of current and popular digital magazine titles for free with their library card. There is nothing to return, no extra fees or fines and no limits to the amount of magazines you can download. The issues are yours to keep until you delete them and can be read on a computer, tablet or smartphone. Customers are encouraged to try it out at tpl.ca/zinio.
"E-magazines are extremely popular and we are happy to meet customer demand for new digital content available anywhere and anytime on our users' favourite devices. We recognize the important role libraries play in making digital content more accessible to everyone," says Vickery Bowles, Director of Collections Management & City-Wide Services at Toronto Public Library.
With just a library card, customers can download full-colour e-magazines with interactive elements such as audio and video. Titles include:
- National Geographic
- The Economist
- Rolling Stone
- Men's Health
- House & Home
- and many, many more
The public can check out the Library's full selection of e-magazines and other e-content at the Word on The Street literary festival at Queen's Park on Sunday, September 22. Library staff will be on-hand for live hands-on demos of the service. This fall, district libraries will also have digital kiosks installed to demonstrate e-magazines. Book-a-Librarian services are also available at our branches should customers need more one-on-one support.
