MONTREAL, March 18, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Centraide of Greater Montreal will be able to count on two well-known business leaders to co-chair its 2019 campaign: Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec, and Andrew Lutfy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Dynamite and Carbonleo, will head a campaign office composed of some thirty Montreal leaders.
Thanks to its annual campaign, Centraide of Greater Montreal responds to the needs of people facing challenges related to poverty and social exclusion, by supporting a network of 350 grassroots agencies that work in the field.
"I've been involved with Centraide's mission for more than 20 years, including several years as a member of the campaign cabinet. This new responsibility is a great way to further that commitment. Hydro-Québec, our employees, and our retirees are also very involved with Centraide across the province. Through this support, we contribute to the well-being of our communities and to the fight against poverty," says Éric Martel.
"Community involvement is really important to me, and supporting the work that Centraide does is equally important. This organization makes our Montreal community more attractive and welcoming. Centraide's 2019 campaign will officially launch on October 2 with the great "March of 1,000 Umbrellas" in downtown Montreal.
Centraide of Greater Montreal operates in the districts of Laval, Montreal Island, and the South Shore. Nearly 57,000 volunteers are involved in the more than 350 agencies it supports, and more than 22,000 volunteers are dedicated to organizing Centraide's annual campaign. Centraide is present in 18 regions throughout Quebec, and receives support from businesses as well as private, public, and parapublic institutions, and large labour organizations.
