Genworth Canada's Annual Meaning of Home Writing Contest Launches across Canada
TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2014 /CNW/ - Starting today, students in grades 4, 5 and 6 across Canada are invited to submit an essay about what home means to them for a chance to win great prizes and help fund the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home in Canada. Genworth Canada's Meaning of Home Contest, now in its eighth year, has directed nearly $700,000 to Habitat for Humanity homebuilding nationwide.
"Last year, we received more than 7,000 entries from Victoria all the way to St. John's," said Anita Booth, Marketing and Community Relations Leader with Genworth Canada. "We are hoping 2014 will be another record-breaking year and are calling upon parents and teachers across Canada to help us. Encourage your children and students to participate and allow them to experience the satisfaction that comes with doing something positive for their community."
"We are grateful to Genworth Canada for this contest, which has helped Habitat for Humanity provide affordable homeownership to low-income families in more than 50 communities across Canada," said Mark Rodgers, Chief Operating Officer of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "In addition to raising awareness and funds for Habitat, this contest also encourages creative thought among our youth and that is something that can have a lasting impact."
