Breakout Swedish Singer Linda Lind teams with Celebrated Canadian Electronic Producer for 'Dance Criminal' Remix
LOS ANGELES, June 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Electronic producer and composer Harrison Lee, a member of the Canadian group Secret Squares, is remixing the house-electro-funk single, "Dance Criminal," by Swedish singer-songwriter Linda Lind. The HAL9K Remix is releasing June 10 on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Lind's website, www.lindalind.com and at www.hairdurecords.com.
Lind and Appu Krishnan, also known as The Professor, produced the original version. "The original mix has an amazing anthemic style," Lee said. "I wanted to take that big sound and try and infuse more funk into the rhythm. I have a deep love of harmony and texture and I find that it's an important part of how I produce. Linda's song has a great hook and lots of cool ear candy to work with. I have experience remixing in a number of electronica genres, but I felt this remix should definitely be a straight-ahead house banger!"
Lee attended the University of Southern California and is a longtime collaborator of Kurtis Schultz, also known as Kusch from Secret Squares. The group is signed to Hairdu Records.
A versatile and burgeoning talent, Lee's film music credits include the films Cheyenne is Burning, CBC's The Journey of the Polar Bear, National Geographic's Ice Bear, Orc Wars, File Not Found, Osiris Entertainment's Awaken, and Far, a nine-time award winning short that swept the independent film festival circuit last year. Lee's television music credits include Devious Maids (ABC/Lifetime), Ballup StreetBall (Halfpenny Marvel Noise) and the 2007 Western Canada Summer Games.
Lind said, "It's been a pleasure working with Harrison on this remix. He brought a whole new vibe to the song, which is exactly what I wanted. The remix he made is super funky and is going to be perfect for the club. His ear for writing film music shines through as well with the rich chords and melodies that he has added."
Music producer and vocal coach Johan Jämtberg discovered Lind. Together they wrote the song Oskyldig (Innocent) that was recorded by the Swedish pop group E.M.M.A and released on their album Vänner (Friends). Most recently, Lind sang a live duet in Egypt with Julio Iglesias, a Spanish singer-songwriter whose sold more than 300 million records worldwide.
