Blow Vapor calls on Wynne government to reconsider 'unfair and wrong' proposed new vaping rules

TORONTO, March 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Just as the role of vaping in the safe consumption of medical marijuana has gained wider acceptance, the Ontario government "in a major policy U-turn" has wrongly chosen to ban the practice in all public places, says Blow Vapor, one of the leading producers of vaporizing devices for medical marijuana and e-cigarettes for smoking cessation.

"Medical marijuana is a medicine to its users," said Fernando Di Carlo, Blow Vapor president. "To call what the device produces 'second hand smoke' and limit the consumption of what has become a health product is simply unfair and wrong. The product of vaping is not smoke. It is vapor. To have smoke, one must have combustion; there is no combustion vaping."

"We call on the Ontario government to reconsider this decision," Di Carlo added. "Medical marijuana patients combat HIV, cancer, and glaucoma while severe epilepsy patients require it to control seizures. Where will they go to take their medicine?" These rules are throwback to the days of restrictive and unwise marijuana laws."

In addition, Di Carlo said, the rules treating e-cigarettes exactly like cigarettes are also uninformed. "In other advanced countries, such as the U.K., the role of e-cigarettes in smoking cessation is becoming accepted and supported. Clearly vaping is considerably safer than smoking."

Blow Vapor says it supports the efforts of the restaurant and other industries to combat the new government rules. "They are unenforceable and a step backward," Di Carlo said. "Why introduce a law that puts law enforcement back into chasing marijuana users? It does not make sense."
