International Aerospace Week - Montréal 2019
MONTRÉAL, April 16, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Aéro Montréal, Quebec's aerospace cluster, and the Institute for Data Valorisation (IVADO), today signed a partnership agreement on artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications for the aerospace sector. This signing was held during the Global Supply Chain Summit taking place today at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
"This agreement aims to facilitate and promote the emergence of artificial intelligence projects in aerospace in order to support SMEs in transitioning to Industry 4.0," says Suzanne M. Benoît, President of Aéro Montréal. "Many companies in the sector are already working to integrate advanced technologies into their activities to accelerate their growth and maintain their competitiveness."
"This partnership strengthens the Québec aerospace industry's position in the world by laying the foundation for the development of innovative collaborative projects in the field," says Gilles Savard, General Director of IVADO. "We are delighted to have Aéro Montréal join our data science ecosystem to meet the digital challenges in aerospace."
Over the next two years, Aéro Montréal and IVADO intend to collaborate on the establishment of an Aerospace AI working committee and organize events to promote the exchange of best practices, as well as highlight the many innovations and opportunities offered by AI.
About Aéro Montréal
Created in 2006, Aéro Montréal is a strategic think tank that groups all major decision makers in Québec's aerospace sector, including companies, educational and research institutions, as well as associations and unions.
The activities of Aéro Montréal are made possible thanks to the participation of the governments of Québec and Canada, the Montréal Metropolitan Community, as well as company members of the cluster.
The Institute for data valorization (IVADO) is a joint initiative of HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and Université de Montréal that brings together nearly 100 industrial, academic and government partners. With over 1 200 member researchers, IVADO is a multidisciplinary centre of advanced expertise in statistics, artificial intelligence and operations research.
IVADO's mission is to 1) contribute to the development of an economic sector in big data processing for decision making; 2) create privileged partnerships between industry and the administrative, social and academic sectors; 3) contribute to the advancement of knowledge and train new generations of data scientists; and 4) foster exchange and knowledge sharing between experts, partners, researchers and students.
IVADO provides a framework for six research centres: Canada Excellence Research Chair in Data Science for Real-Time Decision Making, CIRRELT, CRM, GERAD, MILA and Tech3Lab.
