Santa Shuffle runs
Donors can Text 'HOPE' to 45678 to make
WHO: Salvation Army leaders and the general public,
including 10,000 runners raising an estimated $450,000
for Salvation Army programs that help families and
individuals during the Christmas season and year-
round.
WHAT: The Salvation Army will launch a national text message
donation program, aimed at raising funds for Canada's
vulnerable and marginalized. Donors can text the word
HOPE to 45678 from any Rogers Wireless or Bell
Mobility phone to make a $5.00 contribution to The
Salvation Army's Christmas Campaign. Money raised will
directly support the more than 1.5 million people The
Salvation Army serves year-round.
BACKGROUND: This is the first time that one of Canada's largest
and most well respected charities has used mobile
technology as a way to give back. The program will be
officially launched at the Santa Shuffle Runs, hosted
by The Salvation Army and located across the country.
The program will continue throughout the Christmas
season, giving donors a cash-free, easy and secure way
to make donations to the Christmas Campaign. For more
